Looking to enhance your eyebrows? We’re so happy to announce that we have Alison Agan providing MicroBlading services at The Compass!
You might be wondering what exactly is MicroBlading? Alison creates hair strokes with pigment and a handheld disposable sterile blade, putting the finest hairs back into eyebrows with pigment to provide the finest definition and dimension possible. This controls the shape and symmetry of the eyebrows better than ever before for the most understated, natural-looking, slight enhancement to your brows. This amazing eyebrow treatment suits people who ideally have the wrong brow shape, over-tweezed or have loss of hair/patchy areas that won’t grow back.
MicroBlading is done using a very fine disposable blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis. MicroBlading is more superficial than tattooing; it impacts color closer to the top skin surface so strokes appear and remain crisp and extremely fine.
How Long Does it Last?
MicroBlading is a semi-permanent brow procedure that lasts for approximately one year. Semi-permanent makeup is an art, not a science. Client results will vary. Even though it is effective and lasts up to a year in most cases, no guarantee can be made that a specific client will benefit the same as another from the procedure. Generally the results are amazing but it very much depends on your own skin type, texture and oiliness.
How Long Does the Procedure Take?
An hour and a half. The consultation is actually part of your MicroBlading appointment! After filling out paperwork, Alison will numb you, consult with you, draw your perfect shape and take photos even before the procedure begins.
How Long Does Healing Take?
Less than one week, usually just a few days. However, please allow one week after MicroBlading if you have an event or special occasion coming up! Color intensity will be darker immediately after the procedure but will subside and become softer as the skin heals. It usually takes about two to three days followed by some possible flaking.
Your new semi-permanent eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will appear very sharp and dark immediately after the procedure. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin and has not yet settled in completely. The color of the pigment will soften gradually. Do not be alarmed if you see some pigment on the cotton swab, as this is excess pigment and/or body fluid that is naturally exiting your skin.
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. This might give you the impression that the color pigment is fading too quickly, however, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.
Once completely healed, Alison advises applying a layer of sunscreen (SPF 30 up to SPF 50) on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.
Does It Hurt?
It is actually not bad! Alison uses a numbing cream that you will love her for. It’s the same numbing cream a doctor would use when administering Fillers or Botox! It’s just slightly uncomfortable, but definitely worth it.
Will I Need a Touch Up ?
Everyone’s skin is different so it greatly depends on your skin and your healing process. MicroBlading is the process of inserting pigment into the basal layer of the epidermis. It is a form of tattooing (cosmetic), though it is semi-permanent. Generally, the results are excellent but it very much depends on your skin texture, oiliness, etc. Your new semi-permanent eyebrow will go through several phases during the healing cycle.
Additional touch-ups are likely needed within six months to two years.
How Do You Choose a Color?
Alison has a huge variety of colors and uses amazing pigment. While you are numbing after you have filled out all of your paperwork, we choose the color that is perfect for you.
What If I’m Pregnant?
No, you cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant or breast-feeding due to the numbing and possible stress during the procedure.
Who is NOT Ideal For This Procedure?
- Someone with large pores on their forehead.
- Someone with severely oily skin (pigment will look more solid than like hair strokes and may not last as long).
- Diabetes type 1 0r 2 (prone to slow healing and infection, color may not retain well).
- Have thyroid/graves disease (medication may cause pigment to not retain properly).
- If you are pregnant or nursing.
Will I Still Have to Wax or Tweeze New Growth?
Yes. While Alison cannot control your new growth coming back, she has now given you an amazing new template to make your maintenance much easier!
